COMMON QUESTIONS ASKED AND ANSWERED

HOW MUCH CAN I BORROW?

You may borrow as much as your personal jewelry value will allow. We will guarantee a minimum of 50% of the "wholesale" value of jewelry.

HOW DO I GO ABOUT GETTING THIS LOAN?

Fill out the "Contact us" page and e-mail it to us. We will authorize you to ship if we feel the items for guarantee may be approved. Once we receive the jewelry, we will determine its exact loan value. A loan officer will contact you to discuss the loan amount and answer all your questions. A check will be sent to you only after your approval. We specialize in Estates and special attention is given to attorneys. Feel free to also contact us by phone 212-869-3366.

HOW SHOULD I DELIVER MY JEWELRY?

You may deliver your jewelry in person or by insured U.S. mail, FedEx or UPS. Depending on the jewelry, we will approve loans ranging from $100 to $50,000. Jewelry is to be sent in a sealed box, preferably enclosed in a sealed envelope and then in a standard size mailing box with "packing" to avoid movement. Send your box "registered mail" if by U.S. mail, FedEx or UPS "insured."

WHAT ELSE SHOULD I SEND WITH MY JEWELRY?

With the jewelry a copy of a photo ID provided by any U.S. government agency is required, preferably a Driver's License. The ID must provide us with your name, address picture and signature. Other documents may be approved. Call or e-mail us for other types of documents that may be acceptable.

AM I GUARANTEED A LOAN IF I SHIP MY JEWELRY?

If after we have authorized you to ship to us and the appraisal is not able to sustain the amount asked, we will contact you to discuss the maximum allowable loan. If you wish for us to proceed, a check will be mailed to you the same day, otherwise, your jewelry will be sent back to you ASAP insured. Most loans get approval to the amount authorized.

IS MY JEWELRY SAFE?

Apple Collaterals has been Licensed and Bonded for over two decades by the DCA of New York. Our Department of Consumers Affairs number is 805977. We have never experienced a loss! Your jewelry is protected in the highest U.L. rated safes with state of the art security and surveillance systems. If we were to be unfortunately compromised, and a loss of your valuables was to occur, our policy is to pay our customers two times their loan value.
Your jewelry is returned to you after you have paid back the money loaned plus the interest and care charges. We always insure the return transport of your jewelry for a maximum of double of the loan value. When shipping to us you are responsible for its safety. Please insure and ship registered mail in a property secured box.

WHAT HAPPENES IF I GET A LOAN?

Loans will be issued by check or cash (only in person) the same day that we receive your valuables. A check with an itemized receipt is sent to you immediately. The expiration date, interest rate, (regulated by NY State at 3% per month) and other information is posted as well. Your merchandise is sealed and locked up in one of our highest, U.L. rated safes with the state of the art security systems.

HOW DO I PAY BACK THE LOAN?

You will be notified when your loan is due (approximately every four months). You do not need to pay back the loan (the principal) if you wish to exercise a renewal. By simply paying the interest you may renew with our approval. There are no monthly payments and you may retire the loan anytime prior to the four months if you wish, without any penalty. When you decide to exercise a termination, you simply call us for the amount that is due. We will inform you of the amount based on the 3% per month (or any part of) plus a care charge (capped at 1% for loans over $1,000). If we need to ship the valuables back to you then a small additional charge will be due for transport and insurance. The forms of payment acceptable are by wire transfer, cash, certified or a bank check. Money orders are only acceptable for interest payments only, not principal.
